Dr. Lori Grant, Foot and Ankle Surgeon, Physician Associates was interviewed LIVE by FOX 35 on Good Day Orlando during the 9AM hour. Dr. Grant discussed the health benefits of wearing the proper shoe size and the health implications if you’re wearing the wrong size and helped explain why shoe sizes often change as you age. Dr. Grant also provided some important tips to ensure that you’re getting the right size shoes for your feet.

Dr. Deborah Lauridsen, Family Medicine, Physician Associates did a LIVE interview on FOX 35 during the 7 AM hour on July 23, about the importance of sleep, how too much or too little sleep can really affect our health and how we can determine our optimal amount of sleep. Dr. Lauridsen addressed a new study that finds that Americans are on average sleeping less than they did in the past. Dr. Lauridsen’s interview aired again in FOX 35 Good Day Orlando’s 9 AM hour.

It has been 30 years since the Orlando Business Journal debuted in Central Florida, and this week’s edition of the OBJ celebrates this anniversary by taking a look at how medicine has changed in the past 30 years. The article “What’s changed in medicine in 30 years? Everything” features Dr. Howard Pelteson, Physician Associates pediatrician, who began practicing medicine 30 years ago in 1984. Dr. Pelteson was interviewed about the changes in medicine in the past three decades, discussing everything from insurance to clothing to office operations to patients and their use of technology.

Physician Associates Pediatrician Dr. Alix Casler provided explanation and insight in an Orlando Sentinel column that examined vaccination rates in the state of Florida which dropped to 89.8 percent for the 2008-2009 school year; Seminole County leads the region with a 3 percent non-immunization rate for kindergartners. Dr. Casler discussed the realities of not-vaccinating for life threatening diseases, what “herd immunity” is all about and why the success of vaccines may now be giving parents a false sense of security about the true dangers of these diseases.

Dr. Scott Marsel offered a “Lunch ’n Learn” presentation called “Take Action:  Stay Healthy at Each Stage of Life” to Health Central Hospital employees in Ocoee. He covered a wide range of topics to keep on your health radar, organized by stage of life:  prior to 30, 30-50, 50-70 and age 70+.  Dr. Marsel spoke about genetics, lifestyle, vitamins/minerals, safety, chronic health conditions, blood pressure, weight and exercise, important health screenings, and immunizations.

At the end, Dr. Marsel opened the floor for questions, so the employees in attendance had the opportunity to engage, discuss and learn more about specific health concerns.

Dr. Lori Grant, Foot and Ankle Surgeon, Physician Associates, appeared LIVE on FOX 35 Good Day Orlando to discuss how our shoes can impact our foot health and well-being. Specifically, Dr. Grant looked at flatforms, a new trendy type of shoe this summer that is posing an injury risk. Dr. Grant explained how this type of shoe can cause foot, knee, hip and back injuries and discussed the correlation between our health and the shoes we choose to wear. She also pointed out some simple things to look for to be a health conscious shoe shopper.

Dr. Annette Cabiac presented at Florida Blue's Winter Park office on health throughout the years. She gave a very engaging and comprehensive presentation ranging from topics including: diabetes, hypertension, diet & exercise, cholesterol, down to puberty and menopause.

Florida Blue's Winter Park office recently invited Dr. Robert Duggan, a podiatrist in Physician Associates’ Sand Lake and Oviedo offices, to speak about the effects of diabetes on foot health. Dr. Duggan covered a number of topics from the types of shoes to wear, beneficial lotions and creams, down to plantar fasciitis, calluses and bunions.  One startling number Dr. Duggan shared was that patients with diabetes who see a podiatrist have a 50% lesser chance of requiring a foot amputation!
