MIGRANE HEADACHES

Headache is a universal phenomenon experienced at one time or another by most people. A migraine on the other hand, is more than a simple headache because it affects the entire body and interferes with one's function at home, work or school.
Headache is seen frequently by health care providers and accounts for over 10 million outpatient visits in the United States. Migraines are extremely common. One out of four households has a person who suffers from this disorder. Recently researchers were surprised to find that in women from 35 to 45 years of age, 25% suffered from this debilitating disorder. Common symptoms of migraine include light sensitivity, a pounding or throbbing pain in the head, neck or sinus pain, and recurrent attacks of debilitating headaches.
Migraine is an inherited disorder which tends to run in families. Individuals who have this disorder have a sensitive nervous system and are often very creative and achievement oriented. Studies have shown that over 50% of patients who present to their doctors with migraines are misdiagnosed and given medications which do not relieve their pain.
Physician Associates has established a center which is dedicated to the diagnosis and management of this common disorder. We incorporate the latest technology with a personal touch. Dr. Voirin has extensive training in this area and is a member of the American Headache Society and the Primary Care Network for the management of Headache. He is currently participating in several clinical trials for the treatment of headache and frequently lectures on this topic.
If you suffer from recurrent disabling headaches call for an appointment today.
