Adult Inpatient Medicine physicians confer with your family doctor during your hospital stay for continuity of care.

What Does An Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist) Physician Do?

• Admits you to the hospital.
• Takes care of you while you are in the hospital.
• Coordinates admissions from skilled and long-term care facilities
• Keeps your doctor informed of your medical progress.
• Coordinates your hospital care, including all diagnostic tests such as X-rays, blood tests and others.
• Arranges any specialty care therapy.
• Establishes a relationship with you and your family to be sure your discharge needs are met.
• When you are ready to be discharged from the hospital, the Adult Inpatient Medicine physician will transfer your medical care to your own family doctor.
