What Is Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist)?

Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist) physicians are board certified, internal medicine specialists who manage your care while you are in the hospital. Because they are based in the hospital, they can answer your questions and provide your care in a timely manner. Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist) physicians do not have an outpatient office practice.

Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist) physicians partner with your family doctor to provide your bedside care while you are in the hospital. Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist) physicians can respond quickly to your medical needs and can admit you directly to the hospital, nursing home, or to your doctor’s office in a non-emergency situation. Adult Inpatient Medicine physicians confer with your family doctor during your hospital stay for continuity of care.

What Does An Adult Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist) Physician Do?
